Sorry, the title was a bad description, except that it described what I
first noticed.
I guess it would be better if gnome-volume-control showed more sliders
(PCM, front, etc), at least in an 'advanced' mode. In this respect it
has gone backwards from Intrepid's gnome-volume-control, which mimicke

user account epiphany works fine though. Maybe it's some of the

The weird thing is, when you check those vbr mp3s created with sound-
juicer in VLC (Ctrl+i there the "statistics"-tab) the vbr-bitrate only
varies around 10 kb/s or even less, up and down. Check at the "Input"
