You misunderstand the notification bar, it is actually abused for
minimizing of different kind, eg when you want to seperate a window from
the taskbar.
What it really needed is second official taskbar, that contatins only
icons, and put there all applicatio
Let me tell again, exactly like you say here, there should be two taskbars,
one main one and a special icon only taskbar for important/background apps.
And there should be two buttons exactly like you say, minimize there and
there.
This is the best feature I would like to have on linux

from a developer's branch in source control. And depending on when
someone downloads ir, they may get different code from
Rocko, in my settings the 'Set Display Brightness to' is set to 1% for
AC and it still goes to 100% every time I reboot my computer. The first
jump to 100% seems to occur as early as the GRUB menu, which seems quite
strange.

How is that different from applets? You can create a panel and put all
your applets on it next to each other if you want.

wow, it worked for me (still don't believe it, maybe recent updates helped)
the LCD was in "off" mode, and the Totem and Vlc were playing parallely
(well after resume I have sound problems, but that's differnent story)

I am stuck with this same bug. Vinagre always start full dark grey
screen and F11 doesn`t work. This bug happened after i went to full
screen and could not remember the command F11 to come back to window
mode, and i did ctrl-alt-del myself out of it... I am running ubuntu

Firefox 3.0.5 starts in offline mode, failing to detect that I am online
(with a connection which Opera, ping and apt-get all know to use well).

reset when I start X (which happens whether I reboot the entire PC or
just re-login), long after the grub boot menu. It seems unlikely that

All right, so happy day. For me, enabling lool's ppa and installing the
updated libv4l AS WELL AS enabling the proposed repo and upgrading to the
-11 kernel has seemed to resolve the issue. Cheese works great for both
video and pictures at all the resolutions that I tried.
