I'm sorry but I no longer have access to the system where the problem

Still here in Jaunty.
Moreover, if I try clicking on the offline printer in the printing
dialog, the whole application (e.g. evince) freezes for more than 30
seconds, and doesn't event repaint itself on the screen.

Still broken in Intrepid. When the lid is closed, the external monitor
also gets turned off, even if the internal display is already disabled
by xrandr.
Expected (default!) behaviour:
- external monitor is connected, lid is being closed
- internal display is turned off, external monitor remains ac

noticed the trash icon displayed an empty icon after having deleted a number of
personal files.
The icon displays a notice "No items in Trash" when pointed to but right
clicking it shows the option to Empty trash active.
