Since I installed Ubuntu, I haven't been able to play any DVD's. I can
play the files I burn on a disk but not in DVD format. The Totem player
gives me an error "can't read source". RealPlayer says "doesn't support
format, check for update". When

Ticking/unticking 'Stick to panel' rectifies the problem. Compiz is
working with nvidia driver 177 applied.

I am using a Liteon DH-20A4P DVDRW to play CD's and DVD's. DVD's won't play at
all. And CD's play back but the audio cuts out. Any help would be much
appreciated. Using Ubuntu 8.10

I noticed that one of my podcast feeds switched from using 32 kbps feed
to a 16 kbps feed, and the podcasts that are 16kbps skips for a half
second, each second. The feed is mp3, in case that matters.
Using Intrepid Ibex, and everything is up
easy fix:
>run gstreamer-properties
>click on video
>under plugin select X Window System (no Xv)
then restart totem.

Can you first explain why you think this will work, or perhaps you
give a link answering the question. I suspect this is an issue with
the software package dvd+rw-tools, likely after an upgrade, as opposed
to a clean install.

Confirmed. Start a game, press ctrl+h until one cube is left, move that
one in, and you'll get into the looping high scores window.

This software does not play anything. It opens it then does nothing. I
noticed the other day if I leave it for 10 minutes it really is playing
it but so slow that 10 minutes equals 1 second. I have reinstalled
Ubuntu 3 times nothing fixes it. I have Run Ubuntu in Live mode, still
nothing. I loaded
I am running Ubuntu 8.10 (amd64) and was having this problem. malaeum's
solution of deleting ~/.config/totem/state.ini solved the problem.

it is a good idea to revert back to the driver used in the 8.04 LTS
becoaus for me it has fixed a lot of bugs i had, now i can change my
screen resolution with no bug, and so many things, so lets wait until
the bug is fix...
