Indeed, but we can't just go and restart a process. Ideally there
would be some command to tell Nautilus to look for new (and removed)
scripts.
I'm not sure where things ended up here but have been using Intrepid
beta for last month and only have access to a shutdown button that
includes only shutdown and restart and a user switcher button with the
"guest" option and logoff but without shutdown or restart. When I go to
guest user I then s

I'm surprised that this is a wishlist item but I have found the location
of the problem and the fix. For some reason when you continue to use the
.local folder from 8.04 it makes the problem happen for 8.10, so if you
remove the .local folder completely and then restart, intrepid creates
its own .l

Same bug on my iMac and the temporary fix works. Still, a proper fix
should be made so newbies aren't turned off. These little things give
people the impression that Ubuntu (and Linux in general) is buggy and
unreliable (which is really not the case).

Same here in Hardy. Very slow reaction with nfs (>50G). Musicfiles are
not often shown in "Menu -> View -> Filesystem" (sometimes it works).

I can confirm this on Ubuntu 8.10 64bit. I ran firefox from a terminal
and the output was saying that it was a 404 and the file could not be
found! Firefox wouldn't even browse to it with a %3F but it works fine
with a ? mark. I used www.whiznews.com to test this. Click on an article
that has video

Bug: If you have nautilus open and middle-click a folder to open it in a
new tab, if it has a number of items that overflow the window size, the
scrollbar will not be shown on this new tab.
Workaround: resizing the nautilus window, even just slightly will force

Rhythmbox lyrics plugin downloads lyrics to .lyrics, but does not show
them always. For example I have file "~/.lyrics/bloodhound gang/i hope
you die.lyric" with correct lyrics (the file was automatically created
by Rhythmbox and contains line "
I had same problem with thinkpad r50e but it looks solved with 8.10
But the dmesg's message :
thinkpad_acpi: CMOS NVRAM (7) and EC (6) do not agree on display

I'm having the same problem on an Intrepid upgrade from 8.4.
When clicking the one of the 3 app launcher buttons (web browser, mail,
help) on screen1, gnome-panel becomes unresponsive on both screens,
consumes 100% CPU, and opens a blank error dialog that I can't close.

I had the same workspace-switcher problem on an 8.04 install and it
still exists after upgrading to 8.10. From what I can see, there is a
gconf config entry for "workspace_switcher_screen0" but not for
"workspace_switcher_screen1". Other applets have separate config
entries for each screen.

After the upgrade to Ubuntu 8.10 I can't check my emails anymore using
Evolution. I always get a "connection refused" message. The mailserver
is using IMAPS on port 993, but Evolution keeps trying port 143.
Pressing F5 for folder refreshing works, but retrieving the actual ema
I tested as a new user, and it worked fine. This shortcut did work under
Hardy, and stopped working when I upgraded, so I still think this is a
bug. I'd be happy to know of a workaround (what setting do I need to
poke?)

Has 2 shortcut keys on Edit menu of 'P'.
Was accustomed to Edit > P for PASTE. Now Edit > Profile Preferences
also has a P as a keyboard shortcut.
