changing an image to an icon should not be that slow, I tried taking a
screenshot and using that as a directory icon and there is no slowdown.
could you try to figure exactly what case is triggering the bug? does it
depend of the image? or the number of images in the directory where you
select one?
In spite of being marked as fix release upstream, it has not been, it
was a poor hack that doesn't actually work. So this bug is very much
alive and annoying, making search folders both useless and annoying.

thank you for your bug report. is the issue specific to nautilus? could
you copy the same file on the command line and see whether it has the
same issue or not? is that specific to the file you are using or do you
get the bug on any example?

I was running some Wine tests, which crashed out on me and dumped me
back to my desktop in 640x480 resolution.
Going to System->Preferences->Screen Resolution, I was able to select
which resolution I wanted, but, the "apply" and "cancel" buttons were
off the bottom of the scr

All was fine at first. But my Ubuntu 7.10 is showing all video in black
and white. Its like watching good old black and white picture. No matter
if I use Totem movie player or VLC, the video is appearing in black and
white.
