when I lock my session and try to log back, I can't (not seeing the
dialog box. The mouse cursor is there, and disappear on the dialog box
position).
Killing the screen saver from terminal let me get back in my session.

I believe this issue was closed too soon. I am running hardy and I
encounter this problem from time to time - I haven't noticed any
regularity except that the last few days it keeps happening all the time
so that's why I finally ended up here after googling about it.
$ more /etc/issue
Ubuntu 8.04.
For me it fixes the bug from the description : "the screen starts to
fade, but then immediately returns to the desktop instead of starting
the screensaver".
(Note that I still have just a blank screen rather than a specific
screensaver if running on battery, but this is not what this bug is
about,
I'm experiencing the same on ubuntu 8.10.
Just go to another folder and go back displays the new messages, but
that is very annoying.

I got this today too, but for me it works after the panel gets
restarted.
I suspect its something like this:
- desktop file is unpacked
- inotify int the panel picks that up
- panel looks for icon->none in the cache yet
- postinst is run and icon is added to the cache

I could be wrong, but I don't think that would be possible (certainly
not very easy to do). The problem is, symbolic links are a feature of
the filesystem in the kernel. Because of this, they are not aware of
(and cannot link to) gvfs URI's.

Well it's a symlink to a FUSE-mounted location, so technically it is an
invalid link when you tried to click it. But I agree that this behavior
is probably not what the user is expecting, and such a case is probably
where a Desktop Entry link file is better than a symlink. Confirming the

I've got the same problem here.
I also moved the /usr/lib/gstreamer-0.10/libgstlibvisual.so so everything seems
to work fine right now.
But I'm a noob and I don't know for what the libgstlibvisual.so would be
needed, so i would like to get the file back to its previous location when the
bug is s
I have the same bug -- since there seems to be a fix I've "nominated it
for release." I hope that will bring it to attention so that it can be
fixed before intrepid's release. It makes the release look poor since
banshee is likely widely used.
