I fixed my problem by creating a new signature and specified it's format
as html before i saved it for the first time.

Hmm, I found the problem.
A while ago I ran powertop, and it advised me to disable polling on the
cdrom drive. And I did so.
For some reason, I was thinking that maybe that was the problem now, and
I reenabled polling on the drive. Now the behaviour works as expected.
