I've tested this a little more, and it seems it's not slow opening a
blanc document, like just running gedit command, eighter as root or
regular user. Also opening a file from terminal, like sudo gedit
/etc/X11/xorg.conf goes quick. BUT double clicking a file in home
folder, like just containing so
I have come across the same problem. Pressing F5 in OOo will put you in
presentation mode if you're not there, but pressing it again will not
take you out of it.
Since the Kensington pointers send F5 with the laser button, I end up
exiting presentation mode every time I want to use my laser pointe

It seems that Poppler also disables hinting completely. I created test
packages in a special PPA that enable both slight hinting, which really
improves vertical text contrast, and the default LCD filter, which

I'm still experiencing this problem on an up to date hardy.
It doesn't seem to occur when running with the --debug flag so I can't provide
useful logs.
It does however display [0x173e710] [volume_changed_cb]
