I just noticed that this only hapens for JPEG files, but not RAW (NEF)
files.
I take photos in JPEG+RAW, so there are two copies of the photo. The
thumbs for the NEFs have correct orientations, and the JPEG thumbs seem
to not have the orientation tag applied to them.

I agree it could be a video issue, I don't have the time to confirm if

I tried to reproduce the crash report, but I didn't succeed. When I
notice this crash again I'll try again to reproduce it, but for now it
seems that it was something that just happened one, although I do recall
a lot of spontaneous error reports about the gnome-appearance-

In the attached screenshot there are 4 files - JPEG and RAW/NEF versions
of two photos.
The RAW ones are oriented correctly and the JPEG are not.
One of the JPEGs is opened in EOG, and is oriented correctly.

Yes, but this appears less a "bug" in the code, than an absence of code.
The program does not automatically allow one to change the settings when
it accesses the wrong information. I looked in the "Help" section and it
says the program is supposed to alllow this automatically. A

directly to bugzilla.gnome.org you can reply to their comments easily
which is not the case for bug triagers who don't get the issue

Testing on Ubuntu 8.10 with all updates. When you try to hand over a
file from OpenOffice.org to Evolution via the "Send" function in
