It's all about cpufreq-applet.
It's not when I try to add it to the panel. The applet was already added to the
panel, long time (months) before (because I restored my $HOME from Hardy When I
installed the new machine with the alpha4 CD)…
The problem is only when my GNOME session opens, that the a
I didn't think to .xsession-errors, so now i don't know because it gets
overwritten every time session opens, and now my applet is OK in the current
session. I'll look next time the applet doesn't draw itself.

installed a week ago, overwriting the original Linpus installation, and
then updated daily until 4 Sep. The machine hasn't been used since that

Ah thanks for the reminder on this. I was too hasty to conclude that
'Separate layout for each window' was a fix - it isn't... about 80% of
the time my desktop starts up with US keyboard layout.
It makes things quite confusing when I do an rdesktop to another
machine, and it's on UK layout!

Ah, Sebastian, I understand. Thanks.
The patched version has been running without this crash for the better
part of the day now, though, as I said, the bug is intermittent and
difficult to trigger. (I've had crashes, but those were all bug 256495.)
I'll continue using epiphany for everyday browsin

These aren't actually thumbnails, it is the default icon for picture-
files on nautilus. That means simply that thumbnails for these pictures
have not been created yet. Closing the report as that is not a bug.

This bug just started for me on DVDs that were working yesterday - dmesg
also has a whole load of I/O errors in addition to the ifo_read.c
messages. mplayer also hangs/fails.

I hit this bug after upgrading an IBM Thinkpad T22, and I can confirm
that gatopeich's fixed /etc/init.d/powernowd file appears to have fixed
it.

I also confirm that gatopeich's version of the powernowd script works
for me also.
A small secondary effect is that the gnome cpufreq-applet does not allow
to change the governor. Instead of proposing powersave, performance and
so on..., it only shows "performance" which actually throttles the
