wow, i got a response already?! im very impressed!
also, no, i did not restart my session, and i was never told anywhere
that i had to to get it working. therefore, i still think something can
be changed here. i think that after installing samba, it should either
give u that "u need 2 restart ur p

Sabastien, I apologize for taking so long to get back to you, but I'm
using Xubuntu right now, so I had trouble finding an Ubuntu 8.04.1
desktop.
A fresh install of Ubuntu 8.04.1, however, does still have the same
error when popping in a 'Blank DVD-ROM Disc'.

form of asynchronous update with events and callbacks to save CPU power
vs continued polling. I'm waiting for a response from the gstreamer
