I have found what doesn't work for me : with Totem, I have to not move
the cursor with the left button but to use the middle button by clicking
or scrolling the wheel in the progress bar. If you try to move the
cursor with the left button several times, Totem crashes. Otherwise it

Actually it's me who had reported bug 216716 (if there was some

I'm on Hardy, which was freshly installed, fully updated (including
proposed updates). I have nautilus, version 2.22.3 and this happens for
me, so I'm confirming this bug. As a "non-related" sidenote (:P) the
trash-can applet also has this behavior, which is at version 2.22.2.

Well I've tried everything that is suggested in this thread but the same
problem still occurs. I have a compaq AMD64, ATI 200 express card on a
r4000 laptop. please help. I can't even use an old kernel without the
same problem occuring.

I changed an option in the Multimedia Systems Selctor that was initially
set to Autodetect and I changed plugin option to X Window System (No Xv)
and Totem stopped hanging and I can play videos perfectly now. I'm not
sure why this changed anything but I'm definately glad it did.

Clearly, this only changed since the last
update. Ubuntu users using automatic login did not have to enter a password
for evolution before the
last update and now they do. It would make sense to regard this as a bug and
