The reason why its LOW is because being able to burn optical media or read
DVDs, or restore your backups
from a DVD in Ubuntu is NOT a priority. This is why this problem has existed

I'm not a dev or even a Linux expert, so I don't know if this will
cause any future problems, but I at least got rid of the beeping by
unchecking the box labeled "Use sound to notify in event of error" in
System->Preferences->Power Management->General. Once I did this I no
longer got the b
cotton pickin I was waiting for Sunjava to install and all I had to do is hit
tab then enter GRRR!!!

I can also confirm this program for programs other than totem.
Had this happen with a few other programs like Audacity, wine, GoogleEarth.
At the moment I have
$ ps aux | grep audacity
yamkaof 6484 0.0 1.9 44156 19976 ?DJun10 0:00 audacity
The program went into this state righ

In the Nautilus file-manager, I accidentally deleted my 50gb ~/data
folder (right-click-> Move to Deleted Items Folder). When I accessed the
Trash and tried to restore this by dragging and dropping back into my
home directory, it r

Are you running the latest Hardy kernel, i.e. 2.6.24-18? I have not
managed to reproduce this issue since I upgraded. It's intermittent
though, so I'm not sure it's actually fixed...

Another command has gone missing, once upgraded to Hardy: Resetting
gnome panel in 8.04 seems to be more destructive than in 7.10:
In 7.10 if you lost your panels (gnome-panels) or just wanted to reset them to
defaults you would have to run:
