Icons are ok, but icon's colors are wrong, as if there were applied a
picture negative effect. Look at Firefox icon color for example, it
should be the usual red firefox color icon. Here it's blue. But I think
it is just a symptom, as the whole gnome-system-monitor has serious
refresh problems too.

A friend of mine experienced it also in Hardy.

I have this problem still in Hardy final with latest updates:
In Layout Options / Misc compatibility options I have set
"Shift with numeric keypad keys works as in MS Windows".
It takes an effect immediately but after reboot it behaves
like it wasn't set (but it is still checked

Yes, the patch to reduce CPU resources was not successful in my case
(uses 50% CPU then slowly progresses up to 100%, over a period of on
eminute or so), but a nice side effect is that the graphs now scroll
smoothly, cool ! :-)
So, this bug can be closed :-)

mailserver... Can you verify that you have that you have
smtp.comcast.net for your smtp server, more likely encryption should be
turned off?

that was not a bug, you installed the library using a source and you
deconfigured it then, that's an user error not a bug, closing since that
works correctly now

Can you tell us exactly how you created that tarball? Seems to be more a
problem on the tarball itself, do you perhaps have some circular
references in that directory?
