I am using Ubuntu Hardy up-to-date in german language.
I can confirm the panel freeze, although I have not done the above described
steps.
I have no idea what could be the reason for this. 3 days ago everything was
working just fine and now both panel freeze at single click on the clock
applet.
i upgraded to hardy RC today and the same bug occurred.
i can only log into failsafe xterm and then i type gnome-session to enter gnome
normally..
none of the above solutions helped to solve the problem.

I have a fresh install of Ubuntu 8.04 beta and totem-gstreamer can not
play DVDs. I have installed "GStreamer extra plugins" and "Gstreamer
ffmpeg video plugin". When I run totem from a terminal and then try to
open a DVD movie, I see one
Also I've tried 3 different DVDs with the same results. Dmesg is
attached (you can see I have a PLEXTOR DVDR PX-740A). lspci is below:

It IS a bug, actually. Same errors and still no solution. This is the
output of ldd /usr/lib/libgtk-x11-2.0.so.o (you wrote user instead of
usr, so Adriaan got "could not find package"):

I noticed the problem occurring again after the mythtv theme was changed
from the black back to the blue theme. mythubntu is still running the
black theme by default. when the problem occurs, I switch to a VC and
run 'top', but it doesn't show any process consuming large amounts of
CPU or RAM.

Close the bug if you like, but my personal view is that evince should
perform a basic file format check and not just simply assume that a file
is a pdf because it has a .pdf extension to the filename. Presumably
since evince can open valid pdf's, it follows that it should be capable
of recognising

i've found specifically what the problem is and how to fix it in gconf.
When rhythmbox runs for the first time it sets the entry in "gconf > apps
>rhythmbox > library locations" to /home/ubuntu/Music, which causes the
errors. Instead it should set the value to file:///home/ubuntu/Music (obviousl

If you mount the samba share as a kernel mount and try to cat the movie
to /dev/null, does that work or do you get errors?
What is the speed of connection
On the latest Hardy this is still broken. Even if upstream doesn't fix
this, Ubuntu should.

Same problem on Ubuntu 8.04 RC with Evlution 2.22.1. Only one time i
