I ran into the same problem on Ubuntu 7.10 / 64 bit ... looks like some
kind of funkified host lookup.
Note that it is considered very bad TCP/IP practice to put your own
hostname on 127.0.0.1 Ubuntu seems to do a hack and add a line for
127.0.1.1 to /etc/hosts, which I removed as being also

For now, I umount (not eject the device) and then unplug the ipod, I
guess this shouldn't corrupt anything (maybe I'm wrong?) and then the

Hi,
totem does not depend on libtrackerclient, only totem-plugins does (the 'local
search' plugin uses tracker to search for videos). Therefore, installing and
running totem should be possible without having anything tracker-related
installed.

gnome-screensaver doesn't blank screen on lock

Create a launcher, then view the properties of it. Change to "launcher"
tab, and after a second the properties window is closed. There is no
error in .xsession-errors, and nautilus has not crashed. The window just

I tested this with hardy last week as well and I did get alarms for
exchange calendar appointments, provided evolution was running. If
evolution was not running, I only got alarms for local calendar
appointments.

I can confirm Stephen's comments. I tested an up-to-date hardy install
last week and was only able to see my local appointments in the calendar

I'll add to Luke's suggestions for easier debugging:
1) The specific two items of import from alsa-info.sh output are a) `lspci
-nv|grep -A1 040[13]', and b) the AC'97 or HDA codec spew. If you have
firewire or usb audio, things are less trivial.
