Whether it's a bug or intentional upstream Ubuntu ships with sub-pixel
rendering so the Ubuntu version should ship with a version of gnome-

I'm having problems with "dim/restore" feature, and also the change
between AC/battery mode.
Everytime it goes back up from "dim", it decreases until it hits some magic
bottom. I've got a brightness range of 0-8. I adjust it to 7. then, let me

I'm having the same problem on Hardy with Rhythmbox and a 1G iPod Shuttle.
Rhythmbox was working fine until I decided to try Brasero. After install,
neither would talk to the IPOD and Rhythmbox would crash. I purged Brasero,
but that did absolutely no good. The only thing I get after the cra

I recently upgraded from Ubuntu 7.10 to 8.04 beta using kernel
2.6.24.16. Ever since then I've been receiving a "failed to initialize

There seems to be no way to safely remove an ipod using GUI in Hardy as
umount leaves the device in "Do not disconnect" state. Using eject from
console safely removes the hardware. This is regression from earlier
releases and will probably lead to a corrupt song database.

It'd be useful to determine if this is X40 specific ... does anyone not
