Same problem here. If I try to increase the maximum value to 350, the
screen does not dim after I unplug AC and the dim does not kick in after
inactivity. Another interesting twist is that the dim level varies if I
try to unplug and re-plug the laptop many times in a row.

Frankly, I had no idea it was a GTK issue. I get the same results as the
reporter #203825, GTK stops my login screens from popping up.
Interestingly, they /do/ pop up given enough time (~2-3 minutes at 100%
CPU).
I'll try to get a backtrace of my bug tomorrow, but I think the two can
be merged. If

I've done more testing and found that what I've been experiencing may or
may not be replicating this bug. I was loading the processor using
Prime95 (available at http://www.mersenne.org/freesoft.htm) to test each
core under load. The reasons the ondemand cpu frequency governor was not
ramping up th

I figured it out, finally. It's something between a bug and user error.
:) I'd call it a regression, but possibly it's just unexpected behavior.
The problem is "Open with" in Nautilus. I always add "Open with Totem"
on directories to be able to play a directory of movies easily. For some

1. Some upgrades disable the nvidia graphics driver, dropping me back into
680x480 land.

track it.
Also, I created a work-around shell script:
