This worked again in gutsy. But only if I would press the left Alt
button first. The other way round did not work.
In hardy this does not work at all again!

I have just done a fresh install of Hardy and can confirm that the
problem is exactly the same. One thing that might be important is that
the monitors are configured as separate X screens rather than using
Twinview.
It might not make any difference, but I'm using the drivers directly

I deleted the .gnome preferences directory, if I remember right. And
then it worked again. I noticed, that for a new user this would work. Ah
no, now I remember, what I actually did was create a new user and work
with this one from now on. Sucked, but what can you do if this does not

The problem with the posted solution to this bug is that Fixedsys
Excelsior really needs to be viewed at 12-point (its native bitmap
resolution) to look good. It generally appears blurry at other sizes.

Thanks for the pointer Mary, and thanks Senor for pointing out how
actually get a Tools menu, currently I don't have one. All that together
constitues a workaround, but not a very good one.

Exact bug is giving me problems on 64-bit install. Worked fine until I
edited flac profile to include "--compression-level-8" to the command.
This gave me output files that had problems, so I set the command to
what it originally was and deleted the profiles I wasn't using. While
deleting I had t

I don't think this is a bug as such just a confusing and obscure method of
configuring Ubuntu. To get VLC to play DVDs by default I followed the advice
given at http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=733559 #8
Step 1 is to set VLC as the default DVD player via:
$ sudo gedit /ect/gnome/defaults.
