Confirmed for 8.04 beta. It actually causes my hard disc to make lots of
noise; a bit like the heads are moving backwards and forwards rapidly as
if they're looking for something. Launching from the terminal gives

I'm being affected by this as well. ctrl-alt-backspace works for me.
I've been using #sudo shutdown -h now as a workaround. Additionally I
am getting init.d S99 automount - permission denied and CIFS VFS server
not responding, though I believe these to be unrelated.

Hi,
All a bit strange but Skype sound is back today! Have just confirmed the
microphone too. Sweet, I'll stick with Gnome. Man, thought that was going to
be yet another mission to fix!
By the way, I am in the process of updating, so the fix, I assume is in the
updates.
