you can check if you have the dcdbas kernel module loaded by issuing: 'sudo
lsmod | grep dcdbas' in a terminal without the ticks.
To load the dcdbas kernel module, issue 'sudo modprobe dcdbas'
You might need to restart hal after loading the kernel module to get the

IMHO, the importance must be set to High or, at least, Medium. If you

Thanks for your quick response! No, it does not open the network-admin
dialog. I *can* launch network-admin from the menu
(System/Admininstration/Network) or from a terminal session. But if I
try to launch it via the Configure button in Network Tools, I get the
"Interface does not exist" error.
that's not a nautilus bug, the mimetype are either defined in shared-
mime-info or by the applications handling those, reassigning this task
to shared-mime-info

The problem was, it was flooded with messages from evolution and rhythmbox, so
I rebooted and here's the error message:

the comment was a bit quick, the issue is due to the fact that the file
can't be read and the name is not useful to guess the content so the
mimetype can't be evaluated, you need to select an application in the
context menu to open the file since it can't guess which one to use
