Lame is installed, MP3 format is activated but can not choose it, until we
manually install gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly-multiverse.

In an attempt to recreate the bug I've discovered that it was caused by

As far as I'm aware, and I don't know a lot, Solaris mode is simply a
different way of showing CPU usage. I 'normal' Linux mode you get the %
of one CPU (or core or whatever) that a program is using, so two
programs that are maxing out one core each of a dual-core system will

I believe this issue is due to bugs in xrandr rather than an issue in
gnome-settings-daemon itself. I've backported several bug fixes from
upstream that look relevant to making xrandr work properly - these are
from one of the radeonhd developers, so will be especially relevant for
radeonhd users (
gdb report attached. The PDF that is causing it to crash is a
confidential document of a customer so I can't post it here. Evince
crashes a few seconds after loading it without me doing anything. I've
updated the packages a few times since the original report and Nautilus
hasn't crashed again, j

The "ressource busy" message sounds like the problem is that a soundcard
doesn't support to be used by mor than one application. Do you have more
than one soundcard, or a usb headset? If this is the case you should try
disactivating it.
