Until totem-gstreamer has menus working, can we please NOT have it set
as the default, but use totem-xine instead.
I'm using Hardy and my children keep getting frustrated because totem-gstreamer
keeps getting installed with updates.
It's a load of crock and stops them watching their DVD's, please
Gstreamer is where the community is going, Xine-lib is not. Yes, it's
frustrating that DVD menus don't work on totem-gstreamer, but I would
suggest you keep that package, and use VLC to watch your DVDs, not
Totem.

i got the same "gnome-settings-daemon crashed with SIGSEGV in
g_datalist_id_set_data_full()" while playing a movie in totem and
pressing the volume-down button to adjust the volume, the settings
daemon crashed, and restarted. (the volume didn't go down as normal, so
I held down the button)

It's a shame this is listed as 'wishlist'. It's more than a matter of
'preference' when it comes to removable media. New users are often
confused why they can't add files to their removable devices even though
it shows enough free space. The reason is because nautilus creates a
hidden trash folder

You've somehow managed to corrupt your system. There is no way alacarte
can be installed without the python-gnome2 package (which provides
gnomevfs) being installed so you must have deleted some files in /usr.

when i follow the instructions on gutsy amd64 i get a file which i can
open with EOG.
on hardy powerpc i get a file which EOG can't read. instead i get
