Some upstream folks (and now I) wonder if this might actually be a
different bug: http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=511771. The
behavior there sounds more like what is happening here. That bug was now
fixed, so hopefully we'll be able to see an update soon.

delete the submission cache, it'll work

I disabled the desktop effects by going into
System->Preferences->Appearance->Visual Effects and selecting None. The
problem seemed to disappear after doing this. I then re-enabled the
desktop effects by changing the "None" to "Normal" and the bug re-
appeared.
