Tonight i upgraded to Gutsy, and Evince is now displaying pdf's correctly.
The upgrade did bring in a new version of the fglrx driver for the ATI card.
I had Direct Rendering enabled and composite disbled on feisty. ( ati drivers

I saw this in a fresh installation of Ubuntu 7.10 in VMWare Server,
where it is trivial to reproduce. Presumably VMware does not provide a
device which looks like a CD writer (hal capabilities say it is only a
reader).

I can't reproduce this. I'd guess this is all the bugs that have
started coming up, as apport has recently been turned on, and the user
is mistaking each individual crash as one recurring crash.

I can also confirm this on 2 seperate Ubuntu Gutsy (64-bit) installs as
LTSP servers.
Since these are LTSP servers (and serve many clients), GDM is not a
factor in my equation (LTSP uses LDM instead, and the 100% CPU Nautilus
processes are from people logged into thin clients).

Yes, it's still an issue. It appears between wifi notification and Gajim
icon on my laptop. But I don't know the way to trigger it (it just
appears after a while). On my desktop the problem doesn't occour (Gajim
icon but no wifi). Hope this helps.
