I had this problem, it was caused by my firewall blocking loopback traffic
after i configured firehol (the firewall builder i use) poorly.
After i fixed this and allowed all loopback traffic, gnome loaded properly
again.
I tested to see if this was the problem by pinging 127.0.0.1 and seeing

unsynchronized between "Contacts" and "About me" windows. The office
field of the first window is the home field of the second (view the
screen shot).
I think the problem appears
LDAP was causing me heaps of problems, but the Bug is not specific to
Ubuntu. It appears that a plugin in Evolution (installed by default) is
at fault. It is highly likely that your LDAP settings are fine, you just
need to disable the Exchange Operations plugin. To do this, click Edit,
then Plugins

down. so I wanted to see further

I was looking at Account Editor due to another bug, when I hit this one:
1.Go to Edit/Preferences, edit an IMAP account.
2. select the Sending Mail tab, and change the Server Type (in my case, from
SMTP to sendmail).
A new IMAP Headers tab is created at the right of the pan
Evo 2.12.0, Gutsy.

Actually I now have this problem with gutsy. When I insert a rewritable
