Guys, who can reproduce this, could you confirm it happens only with
syntax highlighting turned on? Because syntax highlighting may very well
be slow reason, but then it should be slow regardless if you use text
wrapping or not. E.g. some comments here sound like it's re-wrapping
text which is slow

Confirmed that usefree fixes this. I manually mounted one of my USB
drives with usefree, and df didn't hang.
However, when I popped open gconf-editor, and updated
/system/storage/default_options/vfat/mount_options to have the
additional option "usefree", I get an error window saying "Invalid mount
hmm, I've just tested this locally and it displayed that message as you said.
I'm sure the dialog we saw with the beta ISO was different and just asked if
you wanted to change it right now.

Me too - When I login, the bottom panel is automatically hidden. When I
click (anywhere), the panel is restored. This on my x86_64 system since
upgrading Gutsy to Beta a couple of days ago. However, I have none of
the problems Gladstone describes when changing workspaces using the
switcher.
