I am sorry, this is actually still happening.
That message is visible when I first start up. However, after opening
some documents (I'll try to get an exact number shortly) so that they
appear on that list, "No items found" disappears"

This issue is still present in Gutsy. There's a kind of a workaround.
Ignoring the drag and drop comments completely, the original bug
described can be reproduced as:
1. Open a (eg) zip file in a folder, eg the file /w/zip/zipfile.zip
containing a single file.
2. Optionally select the file.

My crash for this bug was to play an AVI from a flash drive using the
default player (totem). After it was done playing, it hung for a bit
and then disappeared; apport launched shortly thereafter.

I did have the same problem. All filters where working when i apply it
manually and i did not work when a new mail comes in.
i was able to fix it when i enable "Apply filters to new messagesin
inbox on this server" available in the following path "Edit->
Preferences-> Edit(Account Editor)-> Receiv

I thought I'd do my share by reporting this bug. I can see I,'m not the
only experiencing this bug. With Compiz enabled clicking on the desktop
switcher makes the panels disappear and seems to crash Xserver at t
