I got this same error on a Gutsy system with totem-xine 2.20.0 with
xine-lib 1.1.7.
This happened when I tried to play an MP3, the visualization was enabled
but only showed a green screen with probably about 20-30 dots that
seemed to change colors, as if it was trying to run the visualization
stuf

I personally think the best way to solve this is to:
A) Use something like the mime-type handler and codec finding services
we already have but for service types. This would take the most time to
implement but would provide the best user experience.
B) Make the menu item conditional on gnome-vfs
I just created a new user and had the same problem. I, by default, had two
workspaces. When I set the appearance/compiz setting to "normal" they were
side-by-side taking up the top half of the workspace preview area. So yes,
it still seems to happen with a new user.

I found out that I can access the drives through other programs while
Nautilus is frozen. I have all my music on my external drive and I can
play it off that drive with a media player while Nautilus is frozen. I
can also initially access the drive without any problems using a
different file browser

This is a good idea, but it would be complicate to implement and we
can't expect that feature for Gutsy. Maybe a blueprint could be created
for this.
I suggest a temporary solution : bluez-gnome should detect if gnome-vfs-
obexftp is installed or not and tell people to install it when clicking
on

When zooming large (3264x2448 -- 8 MP) images to 150%, the image
disapears, and only the checkerbox pattern appears.
According to Gimp's bugzilla, this has been fixed in SVN on Sept. 26.
