Do these changes only take effect after the drive is manually remounted
(via hotplug for USB devices I presume)? If so this should probably be
made clear also. The layout of the tab implied to me that gnome would do
whatever was necessary to make the change when I close the dialogue.

I confirm this, 2nd cpu seems not to respond to a governor option change after
suspend/resume; removing and re-adding the applet corrects it.
With Gutsy's kernel 2.6.22 I don't see the problem right now. I will test it
more extensively though and report if I see anything interesting.

I just experienced this crash.
I installed Tribe3 (alternate version) which went fine.
After the reboot, I tried logging in, got a blank screen and couldn't use Ctrl
+ Alt F1 to go to a terminal. Had to reset and boot into a terminal. Apt-get
update and upgrade.
Logged in.

I experienced this bug the other day also on an SiS 6326 8Mb AGP
graphics card, so it does not only affect intel 810 and 815 onboard
cards now.
Once again, switching from 32 bit colour to 16 bit colour fixed the
problem, but it's not something you really want to do.

I had the same issue using the open 'ati' driver on my R300 powered
9700Pro when running Totem on gutsy.
How ever if i run VLC and select X11 video output in the advanced
options of the Output Modules item, i get smooth video that doesn't
appear to have any issues, and i don't think its cpu render

I still see this in gutsy, with and without compiz. gnome-power-manager
and network-manager take two minutes (fairly exactly) to appear after
login. Furthermore, the System > Quit dialog will not appear during
this interval, either.

Yes. Changing the mount point on the fly is tricky at best, and could
confuse/crash applications.
