Daniel, the patch on your comment seems to fix this issue. I built Edgy's
nautilus-sendto 0.7-2ubuntu3 for Dapper with that patch applied and no crashing
anymore on first startup.
I hope that patch could be backported for Dapper's nautilus-sendto 0.5 version
too.

works .. of course not gnome :] it needs gnome-control-center
1:2.15.90-0ubuntu1 which is only available for 386 and a apt-get build-dep

This issue seems to be fixed with 0.9.5 version, at least for me.

That must be the problem. I built /usr/local/bin/python from source, and
that's the python displayed with "which python". I find that
/usr/local/bin/python -c "import gtk" yields an import error, whereas
/usr/bin/python -c "import gtk" is fine. Clearly the problem is with my
nonstandard install of
Nope, I haven't received another email that causes that crash. I've
still not managed to upgrade to Dapper yet - bandwidth issues - so
anything I provide is probably not much use anymore anyway.
