I have a lot of IRQ related warnings in dmesg.
I can't run dmesg after complete freeze. I had to install the system again from
CD to use it.
Now I have Dapper Flight 6 and
$ uname -r
2.6.15-19-386
$ dpkg --list hal|grep hal
ii hal0.5.7-1ubuntu10 Hardware Abstraction Layer
$ cat /b
Yeah the share is still mounted, based on the fact I can edit it before and
after getting the error in gedit.

I can also confirm all this, on my i915GM. The workaround I've been using is to
first start xine, then start totem, then quit xine. Totem's logo then loads so
slow I can watch it paint each pixel - yay!

I found the problem as to WHY the screen saver wasn't working...
One of my memory chips wasn't being acknowledged, so I pulled them
both out and swapped them into opposite slots and now it works.

Just to clarify: I just tried ripping tracks with SJ and that works fine. It
seems that only playback is affected.

So I have a few different machines, and I only get this on my laptop. I think
the problem may have to do with laptop-keys generating a key event from some
/dev/nvram change.
I'll attach a log from doing:
gnome-screensaver --no-dameon --debug 2> gnome-screensaver-output.txt

I have confirmation of my theory (though I meant hotkey-setup rather than
laptop-keys)

compatible in that sense. If gnome can't cope with one of them, either gnome
needs to be fixed or Depends: directly on the one that is able to talk to.

I had the same issue. It was affecting Ekiga and gnome-sound-recorder.
Removing gstreamer0.8 and installing gstreamer0.10 solved the problem.
