Is it reproducible on the live cd? If you create a new user, can they
send/receive emails?

Every few days I'm able to receive mail then an error fetching mail
comes up for days on end. Does either of you have a clue as to what
could be causing it?
I'd appreciate any help you can offer.

Try setting up your Evolution on the live cd, and see if you can send
emails. Also, please try creating a new user on your machine and see if
that user can send emails with Evolution.

Yes, everything was fine, nothing's changed and now it doesn't work.
Is Evolution in Offline mode?
