Then at least, it would be good to change the dependencie in ubuntu-
desktop from depends to recommends. So we don't have to unistall the
ubuntu-desktop package.

Thank you for your bug report, shotwell is not an image viewer though
and supports only photo formats, without eog we wouldn't have something
able to display bmp, gif, etc images by default
