The steps to duplicate the problem are:
1) Install Rhythmbox from the software center
2) Open Rhythmbox
3) Go to edit/preferences and select the "music" tab
4) Notice the drop down box for the preferred format appears to be missing FLAC
5) Select this empty space and try to rip a CD
6) Get error m
Enjoy the log, it won't tell you anything the description hasn't told
you already. Just bump the priority up again, please; I didn't ask for
it to be downgraded.

checked it out a bit, Rb not only can't edit the settings, if you do so, either
directly or thru something like sound-juicer it doesn't use
Settings that Rb previously used are in
gconf/system/gstreamer/0.10/audio/profiles/
(Banshee uses it's own settings in gsettings

Same problem here. I hadn't even noticed I couldn't edit the settings
for ripping to Vorbis or MP3, but this is the first I've tried ripping a
CD in Rhythmbox since 11.10 was released. Was that an intentional
change?
(I do hope they bring Rhythmbox back as the default player. Banshee
frequently cl
@jens - there is some indication that rhythmbox will be returning as the
default player in 12.04 - if so I guess we'll see what kind of
maintenance/bug support it will receive...

@Doug, that sucks. It's the only player with a reasonably usable
interface IMHO.

parameters, by & large it is no longer of any use for audio cd ripping
in gnome3
