running according to the status bar when you delete the folder? Does it
happen if you wait and then delete it?

Hmmm, I have no idea, it's my university server and it does not give a
clue over a telnet session. Did you try doing these steps on lots of
messages (e.g. viruses or spam) so that synchronization takes some time?

which caches mail locally so that you have your mail around when not
connected to the network. I used kmail for several years and I still use
