Now oneiric is full and stable, but the bug exists on. Can be
workarounded with a different login with new profile or guest.
In which file reside the brightness setting?

The bug is back in town, in battery mode the backlight power is a random
setting away from standard. Every reboot the brightness is different
than before. If you are flashed by the idle, you have to reboot again
and again till the idle level is normal. There is no configuration for
this.

This was fixed by latest updates for me, the behaviour is now right in
ac and battery mode.

Backlight jumpi
Allow me a thumb question, where is the configurator for the backlight
dimming? We are on beta now, fresh packages in the last minutes but the
bug still exists. What can the old profile set wrong in difference to
the new profile? Is there a chance to reset some thing in the old
profile?

Got 80meg of updates today but no change of this problem.
But a new hint, do we have a problem with existing user configs?
When login with an old 11.04 user the bug occurs.
When login with a new plain user the laptop is backlighting and dimming
right.
