This issue has not re-occurred for a while. For a while it was MSN and
Gmail accounts but it seems it was related to the "Online accounts"
feature which has now been removed. After a while I was able to delete
the online accounts and start again. Now MSN and Gmail connects fine for
the last week

is this problem only with the msn or with other accounts like gmail ,
yaho etc?

This bug also affects me. Except for I am unable to resolve the issue at
all. Even when killing all telepathy services. MSN will not log in. It
hangs on logging in but never gets through. It has been like this for a
few weeks now.

Updated 11.04 Ubuntu here, bug still present.
Reconnect button doesn't work. Killing telepathy-butterfly is the only
solution to restore the connection to MSN server.

Just a hint to ubuntu developers: if there isn't anyone willing to solve
this bug (bug reporter says it's THREE ubuntu versions), what is
stopping you to substitute telepathy with a message application that
works? Or is it including broken applications a new quality standard i
didn't know of?

Ubuntu 11.04 update
Any update on this bug, it just occurred again. Please could it be
assigned to someone, as I said this has been ongoing for 3 versions of
Ubuntu now.

Empathy does not connect to the MSN network.
If you remove the account and then you try to reconnect, the problem
continues.
However, if you use pidgin, MSN network works properly.
