The problem was that the scrollbars limit values were not updated
correctly when the size of the display area changed. So you could either
not scroll far enough (like here) or you could scroll too far and would
produce garbage (the more commonly experienced variant, bugs #653920,
#768197).

MacBook Pro with OS X. So, I can't tell if I have still this problem.

1) Make a simple image with a remarkable bottom, so when it is under the
scrollbar, you can see it.
2) Open it in EOG and zoom out that way you can clearly see the bottom of the
image.
3) Zoom in until there are 2 scrollbars (horizontal en vertical).
4) Scroll down as much as possible.
