Yesterday I upgraded gaim to 2.0.0+beta5 and the problem has just gone
away. No segfault on exit anymore. Thanks all for helping out and happy

That's probably a case where gdb is not that useful. Maybe you could try
to get a valgrind log (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Valgrind)?

Thanks for your bug report. Somehow I don't get a debug backtrace out of
it, trying to retrace it. Hm.
The other thing I noticed was /home/yongjian/.fonts/china/simsun.ttf
