The only reference of the "picture_opacity" gconf key is removed by
below commit from Nautilus. Maybe this is not a bug (or feature request)
of Nautilus.

Changing the value to 25, or even 0 (zero), has no effect. After the
change, I tried restarting nautilus (nautilus -q) and the desktop
refreshes but the background picture stays fully opaque.
I am running Ubuntu 11.04.

I guess translucency is not supported, and the bug is that the key is
there at all.
