to a thin client setup? Do you have anything to ~/.xsession-errors when
that's happening?

I get no xsession errors, this happens on both ubuntu and edubuntu in
both nonltsp and ltsp environments

I can confirm this bug. I've encountered it several times when logging
in on a thin client. Without clicking on anything, 3-5 Nautilus windows
will pop up on login. It is very unpredictable and indeed difficult to
re-produce.
