OK, I uninstalled gaim. "sudo dpkg -l | grep gaim" shows no packages, nothing installed. I used synaptic to remove the packages with the "remove completely" checked for each. I deleted .gaim with "rm -rf ~/.gaim" Now, I install gaim: "sudo apt-get install gaim" Selecting previously deselected pa

I am not able to reproduce this problem. I had the gaim system tray icon configured to show from the start. Can you try uninstalling gaim with synaptic and removing all configuration files completely and delete your .gaim folder again, then try reinstalling it? Is there anything that you might have
