I also have this problem, and the most important thing is that it
happens with the exact same files every time. I've checked the files
with other players, so the files are not corrupted.

I'm noticing that particular files are more likely to do this as well
and they all seem to be Ogg Vorbis files. If I stop the file that's
playing crackly and then start it again, it usually is fine. I wonder if
this is really a GStreamer problem.

Im having the same problem.
When i first play these certain files- they will play fine. I will then
click on another song and the cracking begins and the song that i was
previously playing continues to play with the newly selected songs. Once
this crackling noise begins i have no control over stop
I'm having the same problem. It doesn't happen very often, but if I
restart the track, it plays fine. I'm using Rhythmbox 0.13.1 on Maverick
/ amd64.
