Your probably right. The issue is with any thing that has an "open"
dialog, like gedit or thunderbird.
I attached a screenshot to make things more clear.
I also notced that the bookmarks are also not pressent.

You probably speak about the gtk fileselector than about the nautilus
file browser. What software has the issue?
