Same thing with me, ugly default theme loaded on boot. Rebooting
restored things.

After booting and logging in, I started opera. Just a few seconds after
clicking the opera launcher
Note: not this time though. Executing gnome-settings-daemon restored
gnome visuals. (First time it doesn't)
BTW, using opera 10.61.6430 (.deb package from opera.com).
