nautilus no longer handles desktop icons in later releases of Ubuntu.
If an issue is seen in any currently supported release of Ubuntu then a
bug report should be raised against the relevant 'desktop icons'
package.

This bug affects me as well in Ubuntu 10.04.

Thank you for helping with making Ubuntu and its file (and desktop) manager
Nautilus better by reporting this bug. I'm accepting this bug as a paper cut
and opening a report upstream.
I set the status to Wishlist in Ubuntu because it doesn't prevent users from
using the system properly.
