thank you for your work on this issue, somebody uploaded a version of
rhythmbox resynced on Debian with the build fix while you were working
on this one though, I've updated the changelog and the python fix and
I'm about to upload those changes

I can confirm that the patch applies cleanly and works, seemingly
perfect , however, I also had to work around Bug #588076 in order to
make it build on maverick.
