Hello all,
I've upgraded from 9.10 to 10.4 two days ago, and I've enabled Plymouth, but
I'm facing the same problem: the system boots, Plymouth is running for some
seconds, then the progression bar stops and the switch to gdm does not happen.
The system is alive since if I press the power button
sure i will do it later. thanks!

Hi Sebastien, did you see my comment at #13? I am using the current

I've installed the updated.
$ sudo dpkg -s gdm

I was able to reboot to a login screen without any problems.

The version I have installed is working yes. Here is the output of dpkg
-s gdm
$ sudo dpkg -s gdm
Package: gdm
Status: install ok installed

is the current version still working? we had to roll back to the lucid
build with some backports

No, per my comment #10, I have resolved my issue. It isn't clear if
what I did fixed the problem, or if only my specific issue was resolved.

However this does not work for me on my Lenovo x201s laptop. I'm using lucid
proposed gdm, version: 2.30.2.is.2.30.0-0ubuntu1 with lucid proposed kernel
2.6.32-23-generic x86_64. What does the gdm version 'is.XX' mean?
I have the exact symptom as the bug description.
